Samsung expands employee access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex following security upgrades
Samsung Electronics has expanded employee access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex following the implementation of enhanced security measures and data protection protocols.

1. Expanded AI Access
Samsung Electronics has expanded employee access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex, marking a significant shift in its internal AI policy. The rollout covers all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all Device eXperience (DX) division staff globally, which includes teams working on smartphones, home appliances, and consumer electronics. These tools are intended to support a wide range of business functions, including software development, marketing, product design, data interpretation, and document drafting.
2. Security and Policy Shift
This deployment follows a period of restricted AI usage that began in 2023, when Samsung limited access to generative AI tools due to concerns regarding the potential leakage of sensitive internal data. The new enterprise-grade implementation addresses these security risks by providing centralized controls for data protection, user access management, and security compliance. By utilizing the enterprise version of these platforms, Samsung aims to integrate AI into its workflows while maintaining strict adherence to internal security requirements.
3. Strategic Infrastructure Partnerships
The collaboration between Samsung and OpenAI extends beyond software access. Samsung has positioned itself as a strategic memory partner for OpenAI’s Stargate AI infrastructure initiative, with plans to supply advanced memory solutions, including high-bandwidth memory, to meet the project's significant hardware demands. Additionally, Samsung SDS has entered into agreements to provide consulting and deployment services for businesses integrating OpenAI models, further solidifying the link between the two organizations in the areas of data centers and enterprise AI services.
