Google rebrands NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook and adds code execution features
Google has rebranded its AI note-taking tool as Gemini Notebook and introduced new features including cloud-based code execution for select users.

1. Rebranding to Gemini Notebook
Google has announced that its AI-powered note-taking application, formerly known as NotebookLM, is being renamed to Gemini Notebook. Despite the name change, the service will continue to operate as a standalone application. This transition follows the product's initial introduction in May 2023 as Project Tailwind, followed by its public release later that same year.
2. Expanded Integration and Features
Google is increasing the integration of its note-taking tool across its broader ecosystem. Users can already connect their notebooks to the Gemini app, and the company plans to incorporate notebooks into AI Mode, the chatbot-like interface within Google Search. Over the past few years, the platform has introduced various organizational features, including the ability to generate AI-narrated podcasts, video overviews, and short-form clips.
3. New Technical Capabilities
In addition to the rebranding, Google is rolling out a feature that allows Gemini Notebook to connect to a secure cloud computer for writing and executing code. This functionality is currently available to Google AI Ultra and Workspace business customers. The company stated that this capability will be extended to Pro users on the web in the coming weeks.
