Apple removes AI nudification apps and terminates developer accounts for policy violations
Apple has removed several AI-powered nudification apps from its App Store and terminated the associated developer accounts for violating policies against non-consensual sexual imagery.

1. Apple Removes AI Nudification Apps
Apple has confirmed the removal of several applications from its App Store that were capable of generating non-consensual nude imagery. The action follows a demand from San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu, who had called on both Apple and Google to remove 13 such apps from their respective platforms.
2. Enforcement of App Guidelines
In a statement provided to The Verge, Apple spokesperson Adam Dema confirmed that the company has removed three of the identified apps. Dema stated that Apple strictly prohibits applications designed to generate, distribute, or consume pornography. He noted that "nudification" apps violate the company's App Review Guidelines and that Apple proactively rejects or removes such software, including instances flagged by users through reporting tools.
3. Developer Account Terminations
Beyond removing the specific applications, Apple is currently in the process of terminating the developer accounts associated with the removed software. This move aligns with the company's broader policy of enforcing standards against content that facilitates the creation of non-consensual sexual imagery.
